Montenegro municipalities challenge child protection law changes

Fourteen municipal presidents in Montenegro have requested a constitutional assessment of recent legislative amendments regarding child protection.

Starting in 2027, more developed municipalities are expected to independently finance specific support services for children and families. In contrast, the state is expected to provide co-financing for less developed municipalities. Discussions regarding the implications of these changes, service accessibility, and European standards for child protection are ongoing.
