Montenegro NGO demands stricter oversight of foster care
The NGO ‘Center for Children’s Rights’ is demanding stricter oversight of foster families in Montenegro following reports of long-term violence and exploitation of children in foster care. The organization is questioning the effectiveness and frequency of current monitoring practices.
Under current regulations, professional support is required at least every 50 days. However, the NGO argues this minimum is insufficient and proposes that foster families should undergo substantive inspections at least once a month. They further suggest that in cases involving reports of violence, neglect, or exploitation, inspections must be more frequent, extraordinary, and unannounced to ensure child safety.
