Demokrate party disputes lawyer Radulović over judicial pressure

A political dispute has emerged in Montenegro between the Democratic Party (Demokrate) and lawyer Veselin Radulović regarding judicial independence. The conflict centers on an upcoming hearing at the Basic Court in Podgorica involving a lawsuit filed by students of the 'Kamo Śutra' group against the Democratic Party for allegedly false public accusations.

Radulović has called on the Judicial Council to ensure the court's independence and act without political influence. In response, the Democratic Party has accused Radulović of exerting undue pressure on the judiciary by publicly naming the presiding judge and attempting to predetermine the outcome of the proceedings through media statements.

The Democratic Party has urged the Judicial Council to issue a public statement to determine whether Radulović’s actions constitute an attempt to influence the court. Radulović, however, criticized the party for its past statements regarding the judiciary, suggesting their current emphasis on judicial independence is inconsistent with previous rhetoric.
