Montenegro officials undergo training on smart tachographs
Eighteen representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro have completed a three-day training program focused on smart tachographs, professional driver working hours, and European Union regulatory requirements. The initiative aims to improve road safety and enhance the control of domestic and international carriers.
Organized through a technical assistance project to strengthen capacity and legislative alignment in Montenegro’s transport sector, the training was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and supported by the European Union. Nikola Veljović, acting director of the Directorate for Road Traffic and Motor Vehicles, noted that while Montenegro has passed dozens of laws and nearly one hundred sub-legal acts to align with EU legislation, the current priority is ensuring full implementation and staff training.
The training included expertise from Poland, featuring Christoph Nowak, a chief road traffic inspector and tachograph expert, who presented second-generation smart tachographs and their control methods.
