Montenegro opens registration for Local Action Groups to boost rural development
Montenegrin Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Vladimir Joković, has launched a working meeting in Podgorica to facilitate the registration of Local Action Groups (LAGs). This initiative aims to foster rural development by bringing together local governments, farmers, entrepreneurs, and civil society organizations to identify regional needs and develop local strategies.
Following the publication of new regulations regarding the establishment and operation of LAGs and the National Network for Rural Development in Montenegro, official registration with the Ministry is now possible and free of charge. The process is supported by the IPARD III program, specifically through the LEADER approach (Measure 5), which provides funding for capacity building, operational costs, and small-scale projects such as local product promotion and rural tourism development.
