Montenegro Parliament Committee Fails to Reach Quorum on ANB Report

A scheduled meeting of Montenegro’s Committee for Security and Defense to review the annual report of the Agency for National Security (ANB) was not held because the parliament did not achieve a quorum. Chairman Nikola Zirojević said only a few members – opposition MPs Vlado Bojović, Danijel Živković and Mihajlo Anđušić – were present, while the ruling majority stayed away, effectively blocking discussion of the ANB, police, and defence ministries. He accused the majority of trying to avoid control over “the most problematic sectors” and warned that the lack of oversight harms the country’s security institutions.

DPS MP Mihailo Anđušić echoed the criticism, calling the failure to adopt the ANB report “a serious foul” that reflects a systemic problem in Montenegro’s parliamentary system. He noted similar quorum issues in other committees, argued that the government’s appointment of the ANB director shows the depth of the problem, and said the episode harms the nation’s integration process.
