Montenegro police anti‑corruption probe targets 122 officers over luxury assets

Montenegro's Ministry of Interior has opened 50 anti‑corruption cases covering at least 122 police officers and related persons. The investigations focus on alleged disproportionate wealth, including luxury apartments, houses, high‑value cars and connections to private firms. Authorities allege organized criminal activity, abuse of position, bribery, money‑laundering and assets that do not match declared income.

In 2025 the ministry launched 44 cases involving 104 officers, initiated either on its own or in cooperation with the State Prosecutor's Office, the Anti‑Corruption Agency (ASK), Internal Police Control, the Special Police Department and the Financial‑Intelligence Sector. Two officers have already been charged, three investigations are in a preliminary inquiry stage, and the remaining cases are at various points of evidence collection and coordination with prosecutorial authorities.
