Montenegro police await variable bonuses following Tivat Summit

Police officers in Montenegro have received their daily allowances and overtime pay for their involvement in the EU and Western Balkans Summit held in Tivat, but variable bonuses remain unpaid. Approximately 2,000 officers were deployed to secure the event, which included 32 high-level protected persons and operations across five border crossings.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that the variable portion of the compensation will be processed once specific procedures are completed. While Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Defense, and Internal Policy Aleksa Bečić, has expressed support for increasing wages for the engaged officers, Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Šaranović has promised concrete measures to address the issue.

Notably, police academy students who assisted with security during the summit are ineligible for these payments as they are not formally employed within the state administration system.
