Montenegro police officers arrested for unauthorized crime scene photography
Two police officers in Montenegro have been arrested following a coordinated operation involving the Police Administration, the Internal Control Department, and the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Herceg Novi. The officers are accused of taking photographs during crime scene securing and investigative activities and subsequently making them publicly available.
The Council for Civic Control of Police Work has welcomed the Ministry of Internal Affairs' response to protect police integrity and prevent the unauthorized collection and distribution of sensitive investigative data. The Council described the officers' actions as unethical and unprofessional, noting that such conduct undermines the overall integrity of the Montenegrin police service.
Furthermore, the Council expressed concern regarding the broader risk of confidential information being leaked to criminal organizations, urging state institutions to establish a stronger professional and security culture to prevent the unauthorized publication of images or videos of deceased persons.
