Montenegro police vetting allegations spark accusations of partisan cleaning

Lawyer Radulović filed a criminal complaint alleging that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Police Directorate in Montenegro are conducting partisan cleaning under the guise of security vetting. He cites the Ombudsman's opinion, which confirmed serious irregularities in the hiring process, including lack of transparent reasons for labeling candidates as unsuitable and denial of the right to challenge those decisions. Radulović argues that the practice violates human rights and enables political control over police personnel.

The complaint claims that the system allows secret and undisclosed assessments to determine candidates' suitability, effectively removing individuals not favoured by the ruling party. According to Radulović, this constitutes a mechanism for political manipulation rather than a lawful vetting procedure.
