Montenegro proposes new law for residential building management
The Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property has initiated a public consultation regarding a draft law on the management and maintenance of residential buildings. A roundtable discussion was held involving representatives from state institutions, local governments, and the private sector to discuss the proposed legislation.
Slavica Stankov, Acting General Director of the Directorate for Housing, stated that the new law aims to address legal gaps and uncertainties encountered during the implementation of the previous 2016 law and its subsequent amendments in 2018 and 2022. The draft law proposes significant systemic changes, including more efficient financial controls, the introduction of professional standards, and the unification of legal matters in this sector.
Following the conclusion of the public consultation, the Ministry will review all submitted comments, suggestions, and proposals to prepare a final report on the process.
