Montenegro pushes EU accession and upgrades health system

Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević said a new WeBalkans survey shows 86.4% of Montenegrins rate relations with the EU as good and 72.8% express trust in the Union, the highest among surveyed actors. She reaffirmed the goal of joining the EU by 2028 and linked public confidence to continued reforms.

Health Minister Vojislav Šimun criticised long waiting times at the Institute for Oncology and announced a €1.5 million renovation of the Budva health centre. He highlighted a new track‑and‑trace system for medicines and the completion of a tender to improve drug distribution. Šimun also outlined the construction of a new university clinical centre in Podgorica, a 50,000‑sqm facility with about 560 beds, developed with French bilateral cooperation.
