Montenegro rejects Serbian President's hybrid‑war accusations
Montenegro’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement rejecting Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić’s claim that Montenegro is conducting a “hybrid war” against Serbia. The ministry called the allegations “unfounded and inappropriate,” emphasizing that Montenegro is a sovereign, independent state that makes its own decisions. It stressed that the country is moving closer to European Union membership and that its foreign policy is guided by respect for human rights, the rule of law, and NATO commitments. The statement added that Montenegro seeks the “best possible relations with all neighbours, including Serbia,” but that such relations must be built on mutual respect and equality. By rejecting the accusations, Montenegro aims to keep the focus on regional cooperation, economic development, and its European integration path rather than political tensions.
