Montenegro reports 14,218 unvaccinated children

The Institute of Public Health of Montenegro has reported that 14,218 children have not received their required vaccinations. In response, health authorities are intensifying catch-up immunization efforts to ensure children who missed scheduled doses are brought up to date.

Under regulations implemented in September, preschools are permitted to admit children who are vaccinated or those with documented medical exemptions. However, children without valid vaccination status are legally barred from attending. Despite these rules, reports indicate chaotic implementation in practice, with some parents enrolling children without certification and others citing difficulties in securing vaccination appointments.

The Institute of Public Health is coordinating with the Ministry of Health and other relevant institutions to address challenges in immunization coverage. Current efforts focus on organizing catch-up programs, monitoring vaccine supplies and consumption, and improving the availability of vaccination services at local health centers.
