Montenegro Sends Delegate to Croatia's Operation Oluja Anniversary

The Montenegrin government decided to send a chargé d'affaires from its embassy in Zagreb to attend the 31st anniversary of Croatia's 1995 Operation Oluja in Knin. The move was described by Adrijan Vuksanović, leader of the largest Croat party in Montenegro, as “an expression of respect towards Croatia and its struggle for freedom and territorial integrity.” Vuksanović also criticised President Jakov Milatović for political indecisiveness, saying the president should clearly label the causes of the wars in the former Yugoslavia. Montenegro’s cabinet had earlier stated that participation was not a state obligation, emphasizing a balanced policy that respects all victims. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić had previously condemned the decision. Vuksanović believes Croatia will appreciate the gesture.
