Montenegro strengthens diplomatic ties with Czech Republic, France, and EU

Montenegro is engaging in several high-level diplomatic activities focused on international partnerships and European Union integration.

Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj met with outgoing Czech Ambassador Janina Hrebičkova to discuss Czech Republic’s role as a reliable partner in Montenegro’s public administration reform, digitalization, and cybersecurity efforts.

In defense matters, Minister Dragan Krapović met with the new French Ambassador, Cécile Humbert-Bouvier. Discussions centered on strategic defense cooperation, including the modernization of the Montenegrin Navy through the procurement of patrol vessels from the French company KERSHIP and the training of military personnel in Paris.

On the path to EU membership, Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević participated in a roundtable at the European Parliament in Brussels. She expressed the goal of closing all remaining negotiation chapters by the end of the year, aiming for Montenegro to become the 28th EU member state by 2028.

Separately, Milena Vuković of the Civic Movement URA criticized the current state of social policy, arguing that child benefits have not kept pace with rising living costs and inflation, urging the state to provide greater support to families.
