Montenegro to pay Saša Boreta after ECHR ruling on judicial delays

Saša Boreta will receive 1,620 euros in non-material damages from Montenegro, following a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights regarding excessive judicial delays. Boreta had rejected a proposed friendly settlement that would have provided 1,800 euros, resulting in a lower final payout.

The legal action was initiated due to the Constitutional Court of Montenegro taking five years, seven months, and 21 days to process his case. Along with the damages, the state is ordered to pay 250 euros in legal costs. The payment deadline is set for November 27.

Similar rulings have been issued against Montenegro in the cases of 'Madras CO d. o. o. Ljubljana v. Montenegro' and 'Uruçi v. Montenegro' due to prolonged proceedings in the Constitutional Court. In those instances, the applicants also declined friendly settlement offers.
