Montenegro to receive PET/CT scanner and mammography equipment

Montenegro is set to upgrade its healthcare infrastructure through the procurement of a PET/CT scanner and four digital mammography machines. This initiative is a result of cooperation between the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MPNI) and the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG), facilitated by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The PET/CT scanner project is valued at approximately 1.9 million euros. Minister Anđela Jakšić Stojanović stated that the procurement aims to improve the quality of healthcare services and includes training for doctors, medical physicists, and technicians to ensure proper use of the advanced equipment.

Separately, the KCCG has announced that its gamma camera department will be temporarily out of service for approximately 20 days. This suspension is necessary to facilitate the relocation of the department to a reconstructed facility in Petrović Park, where diagnostic procedures such as scintigraphy will be temporarily paused during the installation and testing process.
