Montenegro tourism sees strong season despite beach violations

Montenegro has experienced one of its most successful tourism seasons in the last decade, according to the Public Enterprise for Coastal Zone Management (Morsko dobro). Srđan Radić, head of the Control Service, stated that the high volume of visitors met the optimistic expectations set at the beginning of the year.

However, the increased crowds were accompanied by a rise in regulatory violations. Initial issues focused on beach furniture occupancy, specifically the failure to adhere to rules requiring 50 percent of space at public-family beaches to be kept clear of furniture. In response, authorities implemented two-shift control operations to enforce these contractual obligations.

As the season progressed, enforcement efforts shifted toward safety and illegal structures. A significant concern emerged regarding lifeguard credentials, with inspections uncovering falsified licenses. These findings have been reported to the relevant institutions and the Police Administration for further action.
