Montenegro's Bihorska Inicijativa party formed in Petnjica

The founding assembly of the Bihorska Inicijativa political party was held on 30 July in the municipality of Petnjica, Montenegro. Coordinators Ruždija Kočan and Ernad Korać were elected, a governing board and party council were appointed, and the party’s statute and program were approved. The new party aims to strengthen institutions, improve employment, education, health care and environmental protection in the Bihor region.

The launch comes amid a turbulent political climate in Montenegro, where a recent reshuffle of ministers and vice‑presidents has pushed the country into an intense electoral campaign. Analysts describe the forthcoming local elections as existential for Montenegro, with parties such as Nova srpska demokracija, Pokret Evropa and the Democratic National Party vying for influence. The formation of Bihorska Inicijativa adds another contender to the fragmented opposition ahead of the scheduled local elections originally set for 13 June 2027.
