Montenegro's coastal water deemed mostly excellent, four beaches flagged

The Institute for Marine Biology tested sea‑water quality at 114 beaches across Montenegro from 20 to 23 July. Overall, 78.9 % of sites were classified as excellent, 8.8 % as good, another 8.8 % as satisfactory, and 3.5 % as poor.

Excellent water was recorded in most locations in Ulcinj (14 of 18), Bar (13 of 15), Budva (27 of 34), Tivat (7 of 10), Kotor (10 of 15) and Herceg Novi (19 of 22). Poor‑quality water was found at four sites – Slovenska plaža 01 and Pržno in Budva, and Žukotrlica 02 and 03 in Bar – where red flags were raised to prohibit swimming.
