Montenegro's Independent Fiscal Council Strengthens Finances and EU Prospects

Finance Minister Novica Vuković addressed the newly appointed members of the Independent Fiscal Council—Aleksandar Popović, Bratislav Pejaković and Jovan Đonović—stating that the council's full functionality is essential for Montenegro's fiscal discipline, macro‑economic stability and sustainable development.

He said the council not only fulfills a legal requirement but guarantees responsible management of public money, stronger public‑finance control and signals Montenegro’s commitment to EU standards, especially the closure of Chapter 17 on the Economic and Monetary Union. The Ministry of Finance will continue to support the council’s independent work and broader reforms to improve transparency, accountability and institutional capacity.
