Montepaone Lido Mayor files complaint over post office closure
The Mayor of Montepaone Lido, Mario Migliarese, has filed a formal complaint with the Authority for Communications Guarantees (AGCOM) regarding the prolonged closure of the local post office. The facility has been closed since June 29, 2026, due to works related to the Polis Project.
Although Poste Italiane initially planned to reopen the office by July 25 and later rescheduled for August 10, the facility remains closed without further official communication. The municipality argues that the only alternative provided—redirecting services to the post office in Soverato—causes significant hardship for residents, the elderly, and people with disabilities, particularly during the peak summer tourist season.
Migliarese is requesting that AGCOM verify whether Poste Italiane is complying with universal service obligations and if the current lack of adequate substitute measures, such as a mobile post office, violates service continuity and accessibility principles.
