Montepio Rainha D. Leonor nurses cancel strike after wage deal

Nurses at Montepio Rainha D. Leonor (MRDL) in Caldas da Rainha have called off a strike scheduled for Thursday following a wage agreement with the administration. The Portuguese Nurses Union (SEP) announced the decision after a meeting resulted in a commitment to update salary tables.

The new remuneration structure is set to take effect in September. According to the board president, Paulo Ribeiro, the new scales will align with those used for nurses in the National Health Service. Additionally, the administration has committed to updating hourly rates for service providers.

The strike had been called due to ongoing disputes regarding unilateral changes to contractual conditions and previous unfulfilled promises regarding salary increases. The SEP stated it intends to continue negotiations to resolve remaining issues.
