Montepulciano reports 13% decrease in crime amid new security measures

Authorities in Montepulciano have reported a 13% decrease in overall reported crimes during the first eight months of the year compared to the same period in 2025. During a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, officials analyzed trends regarding predatory crimes, specifically residential burglaries.

Investigations indicate that burglaries are concentrated in certain rural areas of the municipality, where inter-poderal roads provide easy escape routes toward the A1 motorway and the Siena-Perugia highway. These crimes are often linked to individuals from neighboring regions who operate during the summer months when resident presence is lower.

To strengthen prevention and repression, the Carabinieri and State Police have conducted targeted investigations leading to arrests of suspected offenders from outside the region. The Committee has agreed on immediate operational interventions, including increased surveillance and the implementation of new cameras in rural zones.
