Montepulciano to host symposium on Francesco Redi and wine culture

Montepulciano will host a symposium on October 9, 2026, dedicated to the scientist, physician, and writer Francesco Redi. The event marks the 400th anniversary of his birth and focuses on his seminal work, ‘Bacco in Toscana’.

Promoted by the Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and the Municipality of Montepulciano, the symposium aims to explore the intersection of science, literature, and wine culture during the era of the last Medici Grand Dukes. The work is noted for its historical role in establishing the prestige of Tuscan wine productions within European memory.

The celebrations, which began in June, are scheduled to culminate in an exhibition running from March 20 to June 27, 2027.
