Monterey Car Week kicks off with Automobilia Expo and Hennessey Blackbird debut
Monterey Car Week begins on Monday, August 10, featuring a week‑long series of shows, auctions, races and concours events in the Monterey, California area. The opening Automobilia Collectors Expo runs August 10‑12 at the Embassy Suites in Seaside, offering rare automotive memorabilia such as vintage tools, limited‑edition books, die‑cast models and original sales literature. Admission is $30 for a single day, $60 for three days, with a $125 VIP pass that includes on‑site forums. The expo is now organized by Ben Horton of Horton’s Books, who added an automobilia auction and expanded the vendor lineup.
During the same week, Hennessey Performance will showcase the new Blackbird hypercar, a 6‑speed manual, 800‑plus‑horsepower V8‑powered vehicle inspired by the SR‑71 reconnaissance aircraft. The Blackbird’s distinctive design and organic‑looking surfaces set it apart from other modern exotics, and it will be on display for enthusiasts attending the event.
