Montero demands investigation into deadly Los Gallardos wildfire

María Jesús Montero, the General Secretary of the PSOE-A and an Andalusian parliamentarian, has called for the creation of an investigation commission regarding the devastating wildfire in Los Gallardos, Almería. The fire affected approximately 5,200 hectares across five municipalities and resulted in 15 deaths, including a British woman who recently passed away after being hospitalized for nearly two months.

Montero criticized the initial response, stating that “it is evident that the initial operation and the coordination of the Junta de Andalucía failed in the first hours of the fire.” She emphasized that the families of the victims demand a transparent and exhaustive investigation and questioned the regional president's opposition to such a commission.
