Monterotondo authorities seize 3.5 tons of produce in regulatory crackdown

In Monterotondo, an inter-agency operation involving the State Police, Guardia di Finanza, Local Police, and ASL Roma 5 resulted in the seizure of 3.5 tons of fruit and vegetables. The crackdown targeted various regulatory violations, including administrative, sanitary, and labor issues.

During the inspection of a recently opened produce business, authorities discovered the establishment was operating without a proper SCIA (Certified Notification of Commencement of Activity) and lacked necessary fiscal controls. Investigators found that the business failed to issue receipts and neglected to maintain electronic registers. Additionally, three workers were found to be employed illegally without any formal contracts. As a result, the business was ordered to close immediately, and fines exceeding 30,000 euros were issued. Furthermore, 14 kg of untraceable food products were slated for destruction.
