Monterrey authorities investigate fatal assault of elderly man

Authorities in Monterrey, Nuevo León, are investigating a fatal incident after surveillance footage revealed that an elderly man was pushed into the path of a moving trailer. The event occurred on Thursday afternoon on Ruiz Cortines Avenue.

Initially reported as a traffic accident, a 12-second video shows a young man in a white shirt and shorts striking the elderly victim with his shoulder as they passed each other on the sidewalk. The impact caused the man to lose his balance and fall into the roadway, where he was struck by a double-trailer vehicle. The victim died at the scene.

The suspect reportedly attempted to briefly grab the victim's hand before fleeing the area on foot. The driver of the trailer continued driving, seemingly unaware of the incident. The Fiscalía General de Justicia de Nuevo León has taken over the investigation, utilizing security camera footage to identify the suspect and reconstruct the events.
