Monterrey plants 80 trees to mark 59th anniversary of Parque España
To commemorate the 59th anniversary of Parque España, the Monterrey municipal government organized a reforestation day on which 80 native trees were planted. The event, coordinated by the Secretariat of Sustainable Urban Development (SEDUSO) through its "City Green" directorate, involved more than 100 volunteers and staff from the Public Services Secretariat. Fifty trees were planted by volunteers from Acuity Brands Lighting de México, while the remaining thirty will be planted in the following days by municipal workers. Participants received training on proper planting techniques and the benefits of using native species, which require less water and support local ecosystems. The initiative is part of Monterrey’s broader strategy to expand green infrastructure, increase urban canopy cover, mitigate climate‑change impacts and provide healthier public spaces for families.
