Monterrey players and coach sent off in loss to Chivas

Monterrey suffered a 1-0 defeat against Chivas during the 13th round of the Apertura tournament. Roberto Alvarado scored the decisive goal for Chivas in the 9th minute.

The match was marked by significant disciplinary issues for Monterrey. In the 90th minute, Orbelín Pineda received a direct red card after an illegal challenge on Kevin Castañeda, which the referee deemed a denial of a clear goal-scoring opportunity. Additionally, a late goal by Diego Rossi in stoppage time was disallowed.

Following the final whistle, Monterrey manager Matías Almeyda was also sent off after aggressively protesting the disallowed goal and the earlier red card to the officiating crew. Coaching staff members had to intervene to calm the situation.
