Monterrey seeks high transfer fee for Orbelin Pineda

Mexican club Monterrey is reportedly seeking a significant transfer fee to release midfielder Orbelin Pineda, amid interest from European clubs. Following his departure from AEK Athens, the 30-year-old Mexican international has drawn attention from Dutch sides Ajax and Feyenoord.

Reports indicate that both Ajax and Feyenoord have made contact with Pineda’s representatives. While no official bids have been confirmed, negotiations are expected to intensify during the January transfer window. Monterrey, which paid approximately eight million euros to acquire Pineda from AEK last summer, is reportedly looking for a valuation between seven and eight million euros to avoid a financial loss on their investment.

Pineda has recorded 16 official appearances for Monterrey in Liga MX and the Leagues Cup, contributing three goals and two assists. He previously gained recognition as a top player in the Greek Super League during his tenure with AEK.
