Monterrey trends shift focus from productivity to personal purpose and social play

In Monterrey, Mexico, new cultural trends are emerging that contrast with traditional focuses on productivity and professional success. Author and entrepreneur Salvador Alva has released a new book titled ‘Vidas Plenas’, which encourages individuals to apply leadership, strategy, and purpose to their personal lives rather than focusing solely on career or wealth accumulation.

Simultaneously, a social phenomenon known as ‘aura battles’ has gained traction among university students at institutions including Tec de Monterrey, TecMilenio, UANL, and UDEM. These activities, which involve competing for ‘aura’ through seemingly unproductive social interactions, are viewed as a potential reaction to the high-pressure ‘performance society’ that demands constant self-improvement and efficiency.
