Montevideo hosts March for Diversity to advocate for LGBTI+ rights
The March for Diversity is being held in Montevideo under the slogan ‘Vivir con dignidad, existir con orgullo’ (Live with dignity, exist with pride). Activists and specialists are highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by the LGBTI+ community regarding housing, health, education, and culture.
Nilia Viscardi from the Administración Nacional de Educación Pública noted a lack of specific guidance for educators to support students through issues such as gender transition.
In Paysandú, the Policlínica Chaplin hosted the fourth edition of the Feria Diversa. This community event, which includes public agencies and local entrepreneurs, serves as a platform to promote diversity rights. The clinic has functioned as a specialized center for the integral care of transgender individuals since 2017. Psychology students participated in the event as part of their community work and mental health support initiatives.
