Montgó mountain rescue: Two hikers airlifted due to dehydration

Two hikers were rescued by helicopter from the Montgó mountain massif near Dénia after suffering from severe exhaustion and dehydration. The emergency call was received by the Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium at 14:58 during high temperatures.

The hikers were located in a difficult-to-access area of the ‘sendero del pino’ near the summit. The Special Rescue Group (GER) deployed a helicopter to the site, where firefighters used a crane maneuver to hoist the men into the aircraft.

Both individuals were evaluated on-site and found to have no physical injuries or wounds despite their condition. They were transported to the Dénia fire station, and the operation concluded at 16:45. Emergency services have used the incident to remind hikers to carry sufficient water and avoid strenuous routes during peak heat hours.
