Montgomery County charges 46 businesses with illegal THC sales
Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele has announced legal action against 46 businesses, including smoke shops, gas stations, and convenience stores, for the illegal sale of concentrated THC products. The investigation, which spanned 26 townships, involved detectives conducting recorded purchases of items such as gummies, beverages, and vape cartridges.
Authorities stated that the products were unregulated and often packaged to appeal to children. In some instances, testing revealed extremely high concentrations, such as more than 1,000mg of THC in a single gummy. The businesses face felony charges for Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Substances Act.
This crackdown follows a 2025 grand jury report regarding unregulated substances in Pennsylvania smoke shops. District Attorney Steele emphasized that the enforcement action aims to protect the public and youth from the sale of dangerous, illegal products, warning that continued sales could lead to the seizure of business assets.
