Montgomery County Council to discuss MCPS budget and urban expansion

Montgomery County Council committees are scheduled to meet on Monday, October 26, to address several legislative and budgetary matters. The Education and Culture Committee will receive an update regarding the implementation of the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Fiscal Year 2027 operating budget.

Other agenda items include a proposal to expand the Wheaton Urban District to encompass the Wheaton Library, Community Recreation Center, and Wheaton Local Park. Additionally, the Planning, Housing and Parks Committee will review legislation concerning short-term rental licensing, accessory dwelling unit requirements, and landlord payment options. The Public Safety Committee is also set to discuss operations and future plans for the Public Safety Joint Operations Center.
