Montgomery County Police report weekend crime surge

Montgomery County Police released a crime overview covering reported incidents from Friday, August 28, through Sunday, August 30. The report includes several auto thefts, assaults, and robberies across multiple districts.

In the 1st District, which encompasses Rockville and parts of Potomac, police reported two auto thefts and an incident where suspects displayed firearms and assaulted a victim. In the 2nd District, covering Bethesda and Chevy Chase, a vehicle was stolen and a victim was assaulted during a property theft.

The 3rd District, including Silver Spring, saw an airbag theft and two vehicle thefts. In the 6th District, a vehicle was stolen in the Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village area, where a separate incident involved a victim being threatened with a knife during a robbery, resulting in one arrest.
