Montpellier Cinemed Festival announces 48th edition winners
The 48th Cinemed International Mediterranean Film Festival concluded in Montpellier, France, following a challenging edition marked by logistical disruptions. Due to severe flooding that forced the closure of the Corum venue, organizers relocated screenings to the Pathé Comédie and the Rabelais center.
In addition to weather-related issues, the festival had to adapt to social unrest and violent protests occurring on October 17, which led to the shortening of the final day to ensure safety. Despite these obstacles, the event successfully presented its awards.
Key winners include: • Antigone d’Or: ‘Dua’ directed by Blerta Basholli (Kosovo/Switzerland/France). • Prix de la Critique: ‘Chronicles from the Siege’ by Abdallah Al-Khatib (Algeria/France/Qatar). • Prix du Public: ‘Voyage au pays des blancs’ by Dani Sancho (Spain/France).
