Montpellier hosts inaugural Odyssée des Nations pétanque tournament
The first edition of the Odyssée des Nations pétanque competition took place on 12–13 August 2026 in Montpellier, France, on the forecourt of the Sud de France Arena. The two‑day event featured a Swiss‑system format with 64 male triplettes and 32 female triplettes, bringing together a total of 96 teams from various nations.
Organised by the Ped Tanca association, the tournament was overseen by president Marcel Laborde, who presented the inaugural trophies. Prominent players included multiple world champion Henri Lacroix, French team members Yohan Cousin, Ludovic Montoro and rising talent Dylan Dubois, among others. The competition also offered secondary contests – the Grand Prix des Nations and the Trophée des Nations – for teams not advancing to the final stages.
The event marked a showcase of elite pétanque talent and introduced a new international format for the sport.
