Montpellier secures historic 69-10 victory over Castres

Montpellier Hérault Rugby achieved its largest-ever Top 14 victory against Castres Olympique, winning 69-10 at the Septeo Stadium. This marks Montpellier’s third consecutive home win, temporarily placing the team on the Top 14 podium.

After a cautious start that saw Castres equalize early through a Jérémy Fernandez penalty, Montpellier dominated the match. The team scored ten tries in total, including a flurry of scoring in the second half. Key contributors included Melvyn Rates, Justo Piccardo, Alexis Bernadet, Lyam Akrab, Christopher Tolofua, Banks, Perrin, and Masibaka. Adam Hastings contributed eight conversions and one penalty.

Castres struggled to contain the offensive waves, managing only one try by Arata. The match was marked by disciplinary issues, including a yellow card for Castres’ Guillaume Ducat and an orange card for Montpellier’s Reda Wardi, which will result in Wardi missing the upcoming match against Lyon.
