Montpellier: Teen detained following fatal stabbing

A 17-year-old male has been placed in provisional detention following a fatal stabbing in Montpellier. The suspect turned himself in to police after a fight involving a 16-year-old victim.

According to Montpellier Public Prosecutor Thierry Lescouarc’h, the suspect has been charged with murder. Investigations indicate the victim and the suspect were acquaintances who engaged in a verbal dispute before a physical altercation occurred. The victim sustained two stab wounds to the thorax and passed away at the Montpellier University Hospital. Two other individuals involved in the incident were questioned and subsequently released.
