Montreal airport reports contagious measles case

Montreal public health authorities have reported a new contagious measles case involving a child who was present at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport late Friday and at Sainte-Justine hospital early Saturday. Health officials are urging anyone who may have come into contact with the child to monitor for symptoms and seek preventive treatment if they are unvaccinated.

This report follows a period of rising cases in the country; federal data indicated 1,121 measles cases had been reported in Canada as of September 26. In November 2025, the Pan American Health Organization revoked Canada’s measles-free status, which had been held since 1998, after confirming sustained transmission of the virus within the country.
