Montreal Alouettes beat Toronto Argonauts 37-30 in CFL season opener

The Montreal Alouettes opened their 2026 season with a 37-30 victory over the Toronto Argonauts at home. Quarterback Chad Kelly threw for 445 yards, three touchdowns and one interception on 28-of-46 passing. Wide receiver DaVonte Philpot caught a 56‑yard touchdown and later a long touchdown pass from Alexander, while Alexander also connected with Jerreth Sterns on a crucial drive late in the fourth quarter. Toronto rallied with a late touchdown by Tyler Kahmann but fell short. Both teams exchanged several field goals, and the game featured a blocked punt and a fumble that turned the tide in the final minutes.

The win marked the Alouettes' first game under head coach Mike Miller, while the Argonauts entered the season after missing the playoffs despite winning the 2024 Grey Cup.
