Montreal Alouettes quarterback Davis Alexander targets full healthy 2026 campaign

Quarterback Davis Alexander, 27, is determined to play all 18 games for the Montreal Alouettes in the 2026 CFL season after a hamstring injury limited him to seven regular‑season contests last year. Alexander, a 2024 draft pick from Gig Harbor, Washington, was 11‑0 as a starter before aggravating the injury in the Grey Cup loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, where he threw three interceptions.

Having signed a contract extension through 2028 in December, Alexander says he “gets paid too much money to not be on the field” and has focused his off‑season rehab on isolated leg work, mobility and stretching rather than heavy weight sessions. He suffered a minor knee scare in a preseason game against the Ottawa Redblacks on May 22 but remains optimistic.

Wide receiver Tyson Philpot, the league’s highest‑paid Canadian receiver, also hopes to stay healthy after three injury‑plagued seasons. The Alouettes added receiver Jerreth Sterns in free agency and will adjust their defence after the retirement of safety Marc‑Antoine Dequoy and the departure of linebacker Darnell Sankey.
