Montreal Alouettes' Tyler Snead throws TD pass in trick play

Montreal Alouettes receiver Tyler Snead added a passing touchdown to his résumé, delivering a seven‑yard TD pass to teammate Tyson Philpot during a 37‑30 home win over the Calgary Stampeders. The play, part of a flea‑flicker trick sequence, showcased Snead’s versatility; he recalled his college experience throwing the ball, saying, “I like doing it every now and then, especially on trick plays… it’s exciting and can also get the crowd going.”

Snead, the team’s second‑leading receiver with 31 catches for 470 yards and three touchdowns, joined quarterback Davis Alexander, who has thrown for 1,779 yards, eight TDs and no interceptions this season. Philpot leads the CFL in targets (56), receptions (45) and yards (719) and is tied for second in TD catches, on pace for a league‑record 2,588 receiving yards. The Alouettes sit 4‑1, leading the league in average yards per offensive play (7.83) and ranking near the top in several offensive categories. Snead said the pass does not threaten Alexander’s job, noting, “No, he’s definitely not in danger.”

Snead said his personal goal is to win a Grey Cup championship in 2026, building on his rookie experience in 2023 and the team’s narrow loss in the 2025 championship game.
