Montreal Canadiens linked to NHL trade rumors involving Larkin and Newhook

The Montreal Canadiens are reportedly exploring ways to bolster their roster, with trade rumors involving Dylan Larkin and Alex Newhook surfacing.

Speculation suggests that Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes may look to acquire Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin to secure a veteran presence at center. A potential trade package could involve prospect Michael Hage and several other assets, though Larkin’s preference for American-based teams and his $8.7 million cap hit remain significant hurdles.

Additionally, Alex Newhook’s name is reportedly gaining traction in trade discussions. While the Canadiens are not actively seeking to move him, his recent performance as a second-line center has drawn interest from other teams. The organization continues to evaluate its assets, including draft picks and prospects, as it seeks to address its need for a consistent second-line center.
