Montreal Canadiens sign Russian defenseman Bogdan Konyushkov
The Montreal Canadiens have signed 23‑year‑old Russian defenseman Bogdan Konyushkov to a two‑year entry‑level contract covering the 2026‑27 and 2027‑28 seasons. The agreement allows the club to retain his rights while he continues to play for his KHL team, Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, during the 2026‑27 season, after which he can join the Canadiens or their AHL affiliate. Konyushkov was selected 110th overall in the 2023 NHL Draft and recorded seven goals and 31 assists in 67 KHL regular‑season games last year, plus five assists in ten playoff contests, bringing extensive experience from 263 KHL games. By signing him now, the Canadiens ensure the first year of his contract counts even while he remains in Russia, giving the organization flexibility to bring him to North America at the end of the KHL season.
