Remco Evenepoel wins Elite Men's time trial at World Championships

The 2026 Cycling World Championships in Montréal have progressed through the time trial stages. In the Elite Men's individual time trial, Remco Evenepoel retained his title, followed by Filippo Ganna in second and France's Paul Seixas, who secured an unexpected bronze medal.

The Elite Women's individual time trial was won by Switzerland's Marlen Reusser. In the U23 categories, Ryan Gal of the Netherlands took gold for the men, while Felicity Wilson-Haffenden of Australia won the women's title.

Belgium currently leads the interim medal tally with four medals following the time trials, including gold from Evenepoel and silver from junior Vic De Smet. The championships are moving toward the road racing stages, with the Elite Women's road race and the Elite Men's road race scheduled to follow. The men's course features a challenging 273 km route starting in Brossard and finishing in Montréal, incorporating significant elevation changes around Mount Royal.
